Comcast NBCUniversal Has Surpassed its Company Goal of Hiring 10,000-plus Military Employees

Three years ago, Comcast NBCUniversal committed to achieving an ambitious goal – the hiring of 10,000 Veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, and Military Spouses by the end of 2017. According to Retired General Carol Eggert, Comcast’s Senior Vice President of Military and Veteran Affairs, we officially met and surpassed this goal as of the end of 2017. “In fact, we can proudly say that since 2010 we have hired more than 15,000 Veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, and Military Spouses, across Comcast NBCUniversal,” said Eggert.

We are committed to military hiring because it strengthens our team, and our long-standing support of military and veteran organizations across the country. “From the beginning, our 10,000-hiring goal has been a north star to help us focus on this strategically important talent pool. We are not done; we will continue to embrace the military community – because it is the right thing to do for our business and for those who have selflessly served our country,” said Eggert.

In Comcast’s Oregon/SW Washington region, we are closing in on achieving our own goal, with three veterans in the final stages of the hiring process, and expected to start as brand-new Comcasters in early April. “We are so proud to be part of this community and to be able to offer careers to military, veteran, guard and spouses, with enhanced benefits to allow those still active to serve our country when they are called,” said Christina Holand, Comcast’s local Director of Recruitment.

Holand said achieving the military hiring goal is not the end of this effort. “Rather, this is just the beginning of a commitment to help create career pathways for our military community. Look for us in April at the Oregon Womens Veteran Conference in Bend where we will be supporting and celebrating the thousands of female veterans in our state.”
