With more than 600 Xfinity vehicles on the road on any given day in Oregon/SW Washington, safety is always a top priority.  Every year, our Technical Operations team tests our technicians’ abilities to practice safe driving techniques with a Road-E-O.

“The Road-E-O is tailored to mirror situations that our technicians face every day,” said Mike Burnett, VP of TechOps. “We want to test the techs’ familiarity with their vehicle by treating the course as if it was a real-life situation with real-life implications.”  The goal is to ensure that the techs are familiar with driving in tight spaces and aware of the buffer zones surrounding their vehicle.  The Road-E-O had four challenges: back-In parking, a three-point turn around box, right lane change, and stop line.

Not surprisingly, there was no shortage of competitiveness among the 80 participants. Impressively, 52 of the drivers scored a perfect 400 or above, while 19 scored 410, thanks to bonus questions on defensive driving techniques and safety.

The volume of high scores is clearly a testament to the increased focus on safety throughout the region.
