Go Big. Go Fast. Go Anywhere. Comcast Increases Internet Speeds at No Additional Cost

Xfinity modem on table.

For the 17th time in 17 years, Comcast has announced a speed increase for our Xfinity internet customers — at no additional cost. This latest speed increase will impact more than 80% of our customers and is a great lead-in to the world’s two most-watched televised sporting events: the SuperBowl and the Winter Olympics, both coming the first week of February.

“This is great news for our Comcast customers,” said Kristee Cominiello, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Comcast Oregon/Washington. “Whether it’s for streaming, gaming, shopping, or surfing the web, we’re staying ahead of demand.”

The speed increases will vary based on your current speed subscriptions and most will see an increase of 50 Mbps.  To get the increased speeds, you will simply need to re-start your modems, once you receive notice from Comcast that the new speeds are available.  Comcast will also notify customers who may need to upgrade their modems to get the speed increase.  If you lease a modem from Comcast, you can upgrade to a new one at no charge.  And the new, upgraded modems come with our xFi application suite, which allows better visibility and control of your home WiFi networks.

Those who own their modems may need to upgrade them to receive the increased speeds or lease one from us.

In addition to increasing internet speeds, Comcast continues to offer the fastest in-home WiFi gateway, and most Xfinity internet customers can enjoy free access to more than 18 million Xfinity WiFi hotspots nationwide.
