Comcast is making it easier — and cheaper — to sign up for Xfinity Mobile, our new mobile phone service, by allowing people bring their own device (BYOD) to the network instead of requiring them to buy new ones. Right now, this only applies to iPhones, but we expect to add phones from other companies later this year.
Select, unlocked iPhone models can be activated on the Xfinity Mobile network, and devices that don’t qualify may be eligible to be traded in for a gift card equal to the value of the phone, which can be used to bring down the cost of upgrading to a new device.
“With the introduction of BYOD, we now have a convenient way for iPhone users to switch to Xfinity Mobile and get access to the best 4G LTE network plus 18 million WiFi hotspots without having to purchase a new phone,” said Kristee Cominiello, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Comcast Oregon/SW Washington. “A core tenet of Xfinity Mobile is that it’s simple and easy, and our in-store BYOD experience will be no different.”
Xfinity mobile is available to all Xfinity Internet customers and our two pricing plans are very simple: either $45 unlimited data plan per line, or our popular by-the-gig plan that let users pay just $12 per month for each gig they use.
“We don’t charge activation fees, line access fees, and your new SIM card is complimentary,” said Cominiello. ““When you bring your own device to Xfinity Mobile, your monthly bill will only consist of taxes and charges for whichever data plan you choose, by the gig or unlimited.”
Customers are encouraged to visit www.xfinity.com/mobile/byod for additional details and to see if your device is eligible to bring to Xfinity Mobile. We expect to be able to activate devices from additional manufacturers on the Xfinity Mobile network in stores later this year.
