Record Breaking 17th Annual Comcast Cares day for Comcast NBCUniversal

2018 was a banner year for Comcast Cares Day! With a record number of volunteers, we gave back to our communities at more projects worldwide than any other year.

In Oregon/SW Washington, from landscaping at Tigard’s Metzger Elementary to assembling care packages for military service members and veterans, our 2,000+ local volunteers paid tribute to our year-round commitment to service. Globally, we also reached an exciting milestone with our one millionth volunteer since the first Comcast Cares Day in 2001.

Together, we made change happen on a global scale – but the impact is always most deeply felt locally in the individual communities our employees call home. We gave back to Oregon and SW Washington with 19 Cares Day projects. Among them was our contribution to the ongoing build of an all-abilities park at The Arc Lane County, in Springfield, Oregon.

We worked on creating wheelchair-accessible garden beds and constructed a sandbox perfect for castle-building this summer. Volunteers assembled a new playground for The Arc Lane County’s “Jumpstart!” program, which provides after school and summer camp activities for children who experience intellectual and/or developmental barriers. The fun didn’t stop there: indoors, we were able to organize a classroom to be used to teach independence and communication through recreation, dramatic play, and music therapy.

We’re proud to lead the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer effort and invest in our communities through projects like the Arc Park to help improve the cities where we live, work and play.

A very special thank you to all of our employees, our neighbors, and our community partners for helping us reach these incredible milestones. We’re already looking forward to Comcast Cares Day 2019!
