“If you’re tired of writing the same thing over and over, that’s when you call me.” Byron Myles, 61, is the owner of Westside Stamp and Printing in Eugene. He makes rubber stamps. Fed up with writing your home address over and over on your Christmas card envelopes? Need a date stamp? Byron’s your guy. He also offers printing services from business cards to brochures.
Byron bought the business 15 years ago after worked there as a sales rep. His business has taken a big hit as a result of the pandemic. He found himself wondering, “Is anyone out there?” as businesses closed and work moved into employee’s homes. “It’s hard to make appointments to see anyone,” he says. “I didn’t realize things could stop so fast. I’ve had to just wait it out.”
But while waiting, Byron learned about Comcast’s RISE program, which assists minority- and women-owned small businesses which have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. He applied and recently found out that he has been granted a technology makeover from Comcast Business.
Byron expects to make good use of the new computer equipment and free business services he’s receiving, and he’s happy to get a bit of free advertising from being a RISE recipient. “I’m in a niche business,” he said. “It’s hard to compete with Amazon and Vista Print.
