It was a night of fun, food, and being fanatics for the families at the Boys & Girls Club of SW Washington as Comcast and the Portland Trail Blazers teamed up to give back to families of the Heights O.K. 2 Clubhouse. Youth and families were treated to a hosted dinner, entertainment, resource information, and the stars of the night – Portland Trail Blazers teammates and Blaze the mascot!
Mikila Horsley, Clubhouse Director, shared:
“Events like Internet Essentials Family Night at our clubhouse means so much to our Heights community. Comcast was able to help two families by raffling off two computers to help kids have access to resources that will essentially help them with homework. This event helped bring such a large community engagement and was one of our biggest community outcomes we have ever seen at Heights! We are super grateful for this opportunity and getting to work so close with Comcast!”
Throughout the night, kids got to shoot hoops, meet-and-greet Trail Blazers players Jabari Walker and Trendon Watford, and spin the wheel to win prizes at Comcast’s giveaway station. Comcast volunteers also met with parents to share some ways they can save money on Internet services through Comcast’s Internet Essentials program and the federal government’s Affordable Connectivity Program. The night ended with special giveaways, including Chromebooks from Comcast and tickets to a Trail Blazers game on behalf of the Boys & Girls Club of SW Washington – families had a fun night watching their home team on the court during spring break!
