Comcast RISE in the Pacific Northwest

Comcast’s Pacific Northwest Region is deeply committed to Oregon and Washington, where our thousands of employees live, work, and support our communities. We serve more than 2.8 million residential and business customers and make Xfinity and Comcast Business products and services available to more than four million homes and businesses in these two states.

This multi-state region is advancing the company’s network capabilities, customer experience, and community giving across the Pacific Northwest. From 2018-2023, we invested $1.3 billion to offer multi-gigabit Internet speeds to millions of locations in the Pacific Northwest, expanded broadband and video services to more homes and businesses, and provided donations and in-kind services to communities in the region.

As a part of that investment, we awarded Comcast RISE grants in August of 2023 to 100 small businesses in Multnomah County to help grow their businesses, create jobs, and play a vital role in supporting our communities. This brings the total to more than 700 small businesses in the Pacific Northwest that have been Comcast RISE recipients since the program’s inception.

This grant means a lot for Fisticuts Barbershop, and it comes at the perfect time. As a small business owner, I had to be incredibly nimble to make it through the pandemic. Now I’m looking to promote and grow Fisticuts. The Comcast RISE grant gives me professional resources to tell my story.

Comcast RISE – a multi-faceted program offering grants, marketing services, and technology upgrades – was created to strengthen and empower small businesses hard hit by COVID-19. As part of our expanding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion commitment, Comcast RISE, which stands for “Representation, Investment, Strength and Empowerment,” aims to help small businesses succeed and grow.

I started Sparkly Gowns as an online store and opened the brick-and-mortar location in 2022. This grant from Comcast Rise will help me grow my business. I want to improve my online presence, increase my marketing, and add technology to my retail store. I am from Colombia, and as an immigrant business owner, it makes such a difference to get support.

Over the past three years, the Comcast RISE grant has offered small businesses services including marketing and technology support such as TV campaigns; production of a TV commercial or consulting services from Effectv; access to the advertising sales division of Comcast; and computer equipment, internet, voice, or cybersecurity services from Comcast Business.

Small businesses are the backbone of our local communities, and we must take every opportunity to help them survive and flourish. We have seen firsthand how Comcast RISE’s resources continue to benefit small businesses in the Pacific Northwest. Together, we can do great things, supporting our customers and the communities we serve.

Comcast RISE recipients receive grant packages that include:

Marketing and advertising consultations

Media placements over a 90-day period

Commercial creative production services

Technology services from Effectv and/or Comcast Business
